...This is my entry into the lines contest...Long before the advent of computers, basic lettering/layout went something like this...Faint lines were always used in the background, then came the (hand rendered) typeface best suited for the presentation...Croy machines (sort of big mutated label makers)...that spit out typeface for paste-up applications came later...but there always were lines...

I can remember the old linotype machines Yogi. I worked with one exactly like this in 1975 before we switched to offset printing in 1976.
Great creation for the contest.
How bout those Yanks?
