Built on a rocky island in Cornwall, the 86ft high octagonal tower is made of rubble stone bedded in mortar.
The lighthouse has been operating since March 1859 and automated in 1934.
Hey Mick..Ol' Son.....another cracker here mate!...it's great to see the different colour blues from the sky and the sea...with contrasting theme of the lighthouse that captures the whole image!....well done......How far away was this taken ...were you on a boat or did you have an extra large lens!....High points again..
This is absolutely stunning eye pleaser. Reminds me of a splinter cell game I played. Just perfect sky and the all lighten up little island looks so heavenly. High marks from me too.
Great contrast between the overcast sky and the sunlit island. But I suspect you edited the sky a bit. I wonder did you take the photo from the air? Right into my favourites.
Hi Mick, I think this is one of the best photos of a light-house I have seen!! I have been enjoying your gallery and you have some pretty nice photos Mick! You are a good photographer! There is something about light-houses that always intrigues me, the foghorns and sirens used to help ships navigate through difficult places! There is an element of mystery that always surrounds them! I live in Michigan, USA, and this state is surrounded by water, better known as "The Greats Lakes", so I am very familiar with them! We have them up and down all coastal areas! I just love them and am mystified by them! Very nice photo! Sincerely, Marilyn
Wow, this is a spectacular photo. You took it from a perfect position, so that we can clearly see everything on the island and the horizon behind the island as well. It's one of those pictures that makes you want to enter the picture and explore the place. The clouds and lighting make the picture even better than it might have been. Well done.
well, this is certainly right up my alley!!!! it's a wonderful light. i think it's Godrevy. i went to cornwall and saw the trevose light. we became friendly with the people who run the lighthouses from Trinity. I LOVED IT. and i loved cornwall....can't wait to go back jen
That is something else. Wow, what a wonderful capture. I will say it again, you are so lucky to live where you do. The photo opportunities and historical beauty is boundless. In Canada the oldest places you will find are early to mid eighteenth century. Still old but nothing compared to what you could dig up around Cornwall. Very beautiful picture!!........................LPF
"Love starts at home: family first then the indivdual then your town. its easy to love people far away, but it is not always easy those right next to us. I do not agree with the big way of doing things. Love needs to start with an individual." -Mother Teresa ( But in my opinion whever there is world crisis it is wise to give.)
No Sig, Just, I want to say "Thank You" to all of the talented photographers for giving me the most beautiful desktops and screensavers I could ever imagine. The artistry here is breathtaking.
Not much more I can say that hasn't been said....but to me it looks like you carved out the land where the lighthouse sat and dropped it in the ocean!!!!! Another favorite...thanks!!!!
Finally I found an image I had not seen, enjoyed and downloaded. Such beauty needs to be archived in the minds and hearts of everyone. Excellent photo, as all of yours are.
