South Gare is a tiny fishing port situated on the southernmost side of the river Tees estury. These quaint fishermens huts sit just inland of the fishing port with the famous Teeside heavy industry as a backdrop. I think this is the Corus coke works in the background, with the lights glowing on the underside of the steam/smoke plume.

Great shot.

Love the juxtaposition of the huts against the background of the factory.

Annnnnd.. the fact that their respective colours are ... complimentary. Makes for a rather stark contrast of ... and underscores ... their relative purposes and function.

Thanks for sharing this one with us. :o)

Did you send this to 'National Geographic'?

I think you should do - a quality image to be sure.

For the competition though, I'd have cropped closer to the huts, as the coke works add an extra element of visual interest that competes with the wonderful green huts.

I love this image! Its amazing and such a good entry for the contest. I love how you have used the duskiness to add so much character to the picture. Im sure it wouldnt have such an artisitic feel to it in broad daylight. Amazing shot!
