Wonderful scene and great photo, Lyn. From the rocks in foreground to the great clouds in far, all beautiful and taken finely. The brewing storm and angry waves are pictured very well.
Looking at those hills I can just imagine how the eruption took place millions of years ago and how the lava flowed down. Very nice shot of the lake and a fantastic sky!
This looks great in the preview, but at full size seems to lack depth somehow (the mountain looks a bit "flat?") I'm guessing it had to do with the overcast weather/poor lighting conditions.
Masterful work and an instant favorite! A powerful and dramatic landscape, wonderfully composed. I particularly like the waves and rocky shoreline, which add depth and create the sense of actually standing on the shoreline. A beautiful shot, LynEve!
The reason why the sunsets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
I haven't seen images packed so full of stark beauty since James (JMA55) was submitting photos from Iceland some time ago. This is a timeless image in that it could illustrate a part of our planet millions of years age as well as yesterday. A mastodon could come walking down that beach and look quite natural, or... perhaps... Lyn in a parka? :D Merry Christmas Lyn.
