Reaching a height of 971 metres above sea level, the Lindis Pass links the MacKenzie Basin with Central Otago,in New Zealand's South Island. The road is 63 km through the tussock terrain. Winter snow will cover the area and give a different view from this velvety golden brown scene. Taken late afternoon with Canon 450D, as we drove the long road home. Your comments/opinions are always most welcome and appreciated :)

Very well composed image Lyn. The different colours and tones on the ground and the hills look beautiful and so does the sky.

Lyn - The vastness of the valley and mountains is amazing. But for the road, void of human attention, there is a sense of isolation, and a connectedness to the beauty of nature. Beautiful work in capturing this. Thad

Lyn, I do not see emptyness. I see a landscape full of life. From the ground, up the mountain, and into those clouds. An abundance of living things in an environment richly composed by the almighty and skillfully captured for us to see, by you.

It's a definite beauty, Lyn. I wonder how wild and untamed it would appear if you had experimented with removing the road and highway? Just a thought.

A terrific shot, LynEve! These landscapes are so impressive, and you've done another great job framing this one. Outstanding depth of field. I love the wildflowers and grass in the immediate foreground and the rich brown of the tussock terrain and hillsides. The soft, white clouds draped on top of the mountain peaks add the perfect touch to a gorgeous scene. Bravo!
