......maybe something else! You perhaps can see some little white dots just right of centre in the lower area - they are sheep, but urban legend has it that other creatures lurk here in the tussocklands of the Lindis Pass ! There have been recorded sightings (and photos) of a black panther-like creature and others claim to have seen a mountain lion. Neither animal lives wild in New Zealand. Others say what were seen were just overgrown feral cats. All I saw were the sheep and clouds which seem to have fallen out of the blue sky but I did not linger too long . . . .
Taken with Canon 450D on Auto Landscape mode. Thanks for viewing. Your comments/opinions are always valued and appreciated.

Well, where's there's sheep, there are often times shepherds. I wonder if any of them ever saw anything. And wild cats would surely have a go at a sheep herd, but maybe being in the mountains too long is a bit like being in the desert too long and you begin to see mirages and things that aren't there. Though I did see a show on the yeti recently and I'm not convinced that they don't exist, so why not these other creatures too? It's the stuff that folklore and sometimes myth are made of and who are we to say that isn't so.

Anyway, I lingered too long and just want to say that the image is awesome with those looming hills and peaks and the cloud cover.

I am glad you mentioned the sheep because it really changes the perspective LE. We are not supposed to have mountain lions either, but people keep killing one now and then. Here is proof.
A friend of mine and myself saw two about 6 years ago when we were deer hunting. Mountain Lions, not Amish. :)
Great photo.

Very nice capture from a good angle. The mountains look very impressive seen like this. The cloud definitely adds to the beauty of the scene.

I had to really look to see the sheep, but I can see why there are so many rumours there. Wonderful landscape.

Such unexplained sightings might also be avid landscape photographers prowling the hills looking for that one perfect shot. :)

This is a wonderful shot, LynEve! You've used the colors and shapes of the hills and sky in this composition to great effect. I love the point of view, as well, and the clouds are a perfect touch. Well done!
