Within grief the mind and body are full, overflowing with pain and hurt.
Without is the blank space left when someone loved is lost, or a dream ended.
Through the hurt nothing can be seen but the void, the emptiness, and we must wait for the light of acceptance.

I especially like "Without" in black and white (and gray). You set a tone and spiritual meaning with it.
The loved one is first seen in black and then in gray, as if he is leaving his earthly body as is in movement towards the light.
Possibly July 31st is an anniversary date and one which will always be the memory for the reality of this day. If so, love the memories, allow them to play over and over again. The companionship, once enjoyed in reality, will continue to be shared in the fond memories of your mind.

First of all I have a headache; so I'm not gonna even try to understand the narrative. You are obviously too smart for me.
I want to say, "Great colors in your posting" but that would be idiotic, even by my standards. Your image vaguely reminds me of an abstract work, even though it's not. But it's certainly not a landscape or a shot of a flower or even a portrait. If I cannot categorize and cubby hole an image, then I just freeze in panic. Right now I am completely immobile as the drool forms at the corners of my mouth and my eyes glaze over. My mind is screaming, "THINK!...THINK!", but nothing is coming to my mind. I'm an empty vessel, a shell completely void of thought. My god, have I become an American politician!!! I snap out of it and say, "Nice shot. Thanks for sharing" or something almost as infantile.

Just came across this while scanning the perms...had to fave immediately...your image combined with the poem is very profound and thought-provoking...love it.

Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just don't have any film.
This must have been in response to the February 2011 earthquake that killed 185 and injured thousands. A fitting description of the psyche of the survivors of loved ones and a proper memorial.
