The motto (partly obscured) on this sundial in our public gardens is "Be as true to each other as this dial is to the sun."

I believe it is showing the correct time. Photo is timed at 3.37 pm. Take off an hour for daylight saving time and then another half hour makes the time approx 2.07pm which looks pretty accurate. The reason for the extra half hour is because during the Southern Hemisphere's summer from early November to mid-February, a sundial loses about half an hour relative to a clock.
I took this today. I may enter it in the Shadows contest although I went looking for late afternoon tree shadows :)

Give me a Rolex any day :) Nice capture of the sundial and shadow. It will make a fine entry in the contest Lyn.

I like this one for the contest, it is subject matter that is different from most of what we will see in the contest, and fits it perfectly. I have never actually seen a sundial, except in pictures.

Lyn - Sometimes what we find is not what we were searching for - in life as in photography. You found a gem here.

This is probably the only entry for the contest where the shadow is functional. What could me more appropriate? Outstanding capture, Lyn.

Lyn, I would reply: Omnia mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis. (All things are changed, and we are changed with them). lol.

Very apt capture for the 'Shadows' contest.
If this will be your entry: Good Luck with it.

I am still using these as a wrist watch...they are always so accurate...apart from when it's stormy and windy!...lol

Good one for the Shadows thingy!

I think this would make a great entry Lyn. What better than one of the oldest time tellers known to man than the sundial shadow. Great shot.

Congratulations, Lyn. This one is shadows on so many levels. After all, not just a shadow, but time itself; the creator.
