Part of a memorial installation called "Reflection of Loss of Lives, Livelihoods and Living in Neighbourhood" in the heart of Christchurch, New Zealand. Chairs of all shapes and sizes to represent the many personalities of the 185 lost in the 2011 earthquake. Sited where once stood a church, it is a haunting reminder. A real feeling of emptiness and loss is felt here.
Artist's Statement: "185 Square metres of grass depicting new growth, regeneration. 185 white chairs, all painted twice by hand as an act of remembrance. This installation is temporary - as is life."
