Another shot of the Waitaki River close to the Kurow Bridge.
The Waitaki is 207 KM long and originates in the Southern Alps.
It is a Braided River, so is always changing.

"Globally, braided rivers are rare. They exist only where a very specific combination of climate and geology allows rivers to form ever-changing and highly dynamic "braided" channels across a wide gravelly riverbed. New Zealand is a braided river hot-spot"

Thanks for the info and picture. The title immediately reminded me of an old Gospel song with the same name.

Very nice panoramic view with those green mountains and that sky. I also like the reflection of the tree in front.

A lovely scene, Lyn. Braided rivers abound in Alaska also.

The modern bridge notwithstanding, this looks like a good place for a pleasant stroll, listening to the water running over the stones. Reading about braided rivers in the link you provided, I suspect the Niobrara in Nebraska, in the middle of the U.S., is a variation of a braided river. Thanks for the extra info.

Lyn, with this wonderful image and well documented narrative, you prove too that Caedes is a wonderful site, providing us not only with (very) fine images/artworks (shared by the contributing artists), but is enhancing our knowledge about different subjects as well.
Thanks for that!
