This is from my files, taken in the summer. I think it is a Foxglove (?)

It is beautiful and you are probably right about it being Foxglove, LE. We will have to wait for our resident flower experts to check in.

Happy Birthday to your Grandson. 18 is such a milepost. I can almost remember mine. 😊

Lyn, I've some doubts whether the depicted flowers are Foxgloves or not.
Although I don't pretend that I'm specialist when it becomes to flowers, I think they are Penstemon species, commonly called beardtongues.
I hope that Kathy, our real flower specialist, can give us the final solution.
Anyhow, a very, well presented, fine flower image!

PS: after reading Tick's comment above, I join me in the congratulations for the 18th birthday for your grandson.

I agree with Mr. C. Lyn I believe it to be the purple variety of Beards Tongue or Penstemon. Stunning color.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
