Hidden in a quiet corner of the gardens was this clump of tulips - the closest to black I have ever seen. I did not make a very good capture but thought it worth sharing for its gorgeous sheen and colour.

Lyn, I know that many tulip growers have done an attempt to cultivate a tulip into a real black one. As far as I know, no one was really successful. They have somewhat approached a black tulip by the tulip varieties 'Queen of the Night', the 'Black Parrot' and the 'Black Diamond'. Think this one is one of the closest achievable results too.
