Bedford House Cemetery is a British military cemetery with fallen from the First and Second World War, located in the Belgian village of Zillebeke near Ypres. The cemetery was designed by Wilfred Von Berg and is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. It has an irregular floor plan with an area of 25,765 m, making it one of the larger British cemeteries around Ypres. It is largely enclosed by a natural stone wall. The entrance from the street is a two-part metal gate between white stone columns from which a long driveway leads to the part containing the graves. Approximately in the center of the site is the Cross of Sacrifice on a circular terrace. In the eastern part is the Stone of Remembrance. Also nearby are two circular altars under a domed roof supported by 12 columns. There are 5,144 dead, of which 3,011 were unidentified.
Your beautiful photograph is a great tribute to those who fell for our freedom. Despite the current situation, especially in Ukraine, let us never forget that freedom is not self-evident and often a high price for it has to be paid.
