I have a confession to make, while I don't count myself in any way as being a very good photographer, I'm really frustrated with the quality of my architecture pictures. I look in awe at the pictures in the architecture section, and tell myself that if only I could get out when the light is more interesting it would all be good. In reality I know it's all down to practice and so that's what I'm trying to do; Challenging myself to take better architectural shots. This here is one of the first I'm actually pleased enough with to post here, all constructive criticism very welcome.

Hmmmm, well...over-all...it is NOT a bad shot at all! If you play around with lighting effects in editing programs, you might get the results you'd prefer? PhotoFiltre is an excellent free program....

I think this is a great shot, the only thing I see thats off is the subject. Its just a tad tilted. I'm a firm beleivier in not editing my captures at all, except for resizing. My motto is, if it isnt good enough it gets deleted.....lol My poor recycle bin lol

I think the style of the architecture. itself, does not lend itself to a strong image-too busy and the eye cannot rest.......has a bland look due to overall coluration ( blue and tan just do not go well together)of building and the front-on shot, though it captures entirety of building, does not make it interesting.I HATE having to say all this but is it better to be direct and clear or tell you pap?? I would much rather see a close up of the door or perhaps the arches/columns at a 45 degree angle.well, there you have it....don't be mad at me LOL

I got this in the VB and went looking for it after. I like it; even the blue and tan ... My view on this image is that this is a moderately interesting architectural subject (6/10, mostly for the symetry (agree you should fix the slight tilt since symetry is central)) but your capture of it is +9/10. Good work IMHO! Cheers! - Dave

Jonathan, you have did a good job on this capture. I would think if you want different lighting effects you would shoot at different time of day (early morning and evening) and also sunny or overcast...keep at it and you will capture what you want...gerry..

This is a nice shot. You have to try and keep the camera level if you're going for this kind of "straight on" shot. You might want to consider taking photos from a different angle, or in different lighting. Also consider getting closer, and maybe messing with the framing (add flaws). Other than that, its a fantastic shot. I don't usually love symmetry, but that didn't bother me here.

I like it. It's a really good picture. I especially like the molding at the top of the columns.

Thanks to my brother, Jonas, for the use of his camera and some of his photos.
