DAY! I shot this one around 2 o'clock in the afternoon. An incredible storm front turned the day into night. Just before hell broke loose and almost drowned us, the sun broke through and lit up the dunes and sea. The very high contrast exaggerated the already surreal light, turning the dark blue clouds into black. The "stars" you see are actually seagulls lit up by the sun. The only drawback of the picture is that it is not very sharp. The wind made it impossible to keep my camera still. The camera in question is a Sony DSC-P120. I fixed everything in manual mode except for the ISO selection. Now the camera selected a higher ISO setting (200) and, I have to admit it, it gets a bit grainy then.

Wow, what an ominous sky! One of those occasions where you have to expose opposite of normal to not overexpose the water instead of the sky. Looks fairly sharp to me. What I notice more is the noise in the dark sky which I use Neat Image to fix. Right place at the right time...good capture:-) Addition to this suggestion is only applying Neat Image to the sky.

I agree. A little noise clean-up would help, but that may make it unsharp just as you feared. Excellent shot! What camera do you have?

Nature has lent you a perfect palette! Excellent composition as well.

Ned Knott was shot and Sam Shott was not. So it is better to be Shott not shot than Knott shot, is it not?

I hold it true that thoughts are things; They're endowed with bodies, breath and wings: And that we send them forth to fill the world with good results, or ill. That which we call our secret thought speeds forth to earth's remotest spot, leaving it's blessings or it's woes like tracks behind it as it goes. We build our future, thought by thought for good or for ill, yet know it not. Yet so the universe was wrought . Thought is another name for fate. Choose then thy destiny and wait, for Love brings Love and Hate brings Hate. - Henry Van Dyke.

You were so lucky to have been in that storm! And with a camera too. What an amazing shot. And now my wallpaper for today. It's neat there is a person walking down by the pier too. Hope they made it :-) 10/10 Quiet

But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling, like dew, upon a thought produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions think and smile. Art is everywhere, except it has to pass through a creative mind.

Very impressive. I am glad that you wrote the description telling of the situation that day otherwise I would have assumed it was all done in Photoshop and it wouldn't have been quite so interesting. Again, well done.

I would have guessed that this is daytime because there is no moon which is a must !!!! Even on moonless nights !! LOL
Amazing lighting and great image but all the same by watching your more recent posts one can appreciate that you have reached perfection in your skills over the years !!!
[something just the opposite with me - I like my early posts much more than the recent ones ...] Perhaps I should get at least a new camera if my skills are not improving at all .... LOL
