Every winter the beach restaurants close down and all that is left is a field of "toothpicks". They are a welcome shelter on the beach. When rain is pooring down, people stand with their back against the poles which are often wider then a mans gird. I thought they'd make up a nice composition with the sea and sky in the back.

It's indeed a great composition! I like especially how you have stuctured the image with vertical and horizontal axes - the poles form a right angle to their shadows, and the shadows are parallel to the horizon and the cloud front, whereas the waterfront is diagonal to the other axes. Don't know if you have intended this, but I think it makes a pretty good effect. And the dog in the background just gives the right perspective and prevents it from looking lonely.

It's a good one. The title and the description lifts the image up.

I hold it true that thoughts are things; They're endowed with bodies, breath and wings: And that we send them forth to fill the world with good results, or ill. That which we call our secret thought speeds forth to earth's remotest spot, leaving it's blessings or it's woes like tracks behind it as it goes. We build our future, thought by thought for good or for ill, yet know it not. Yet so the universe was wrought . Thought is another name for fate. Choose then thy destiny and wait, for Love brings Love and Hate brings Hate. - Henry Van Dyke.

Fantastic, so many beach shots have nothing to break the eye from heading straight off the horizon. (like the way the tops are lined up with the horizon by the way) They make for interresting sculpture, Like sentinals against the sea. A ten from me.

I was actually qiote intrigued when I saw the title of this image and I agree with Mia. This picture is definitely much more interesting than most beach shots, which usually just get the sand and the ocean with a sunset in the back, etc. Very nice job!

But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling, like dew, upon a thought produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions think and smile. Art is everywhere, except it has to pass through a creative mind.

I like this because it is so unusual for a seaside shot. If you have one, I would also be interested to see a lower angle shot without the sky...just the posts and their shadows on the sand.

Ok, first saw one of your photos under 'New Images' and then clicked on your gallery and started browsing ... and here I am.

Really, really ... really interesting shot.
And as much as I sort of agree that the inclusion of the dog adds something (aforementioned comment), I think I would prefer if the animal was not in the picture. I like the starkness of the image.

This photo suggests so many possibilities ... and this is one of the reasons I really enjoy it. Viewing it, I thought, 'Hmm, wonder what would happen if ...,' or 'How would it look ...,' and so on. In other words, your photo provoked conversation on thoughts and ideas, as well as appreciation ... no other finer comment in my books. Thanks for sharing.
