The “Stad” is a recently built three-masted clipper intended for the charter trade, as well as a training center for unemployed young people. The start of the year 2000 saw the birth of a new sailing ship: The Stad Amsterdam - a clipper, built along the classical lines of this type of ship but equipped with the latest technology. The Stad was the result of a joint project between the city of Amsterdam (the Netherlands) and the human resources company, Ranstad. They built a ship for chartering, which at the same time would become a training center for young, unemployed people, to enable them to learn a new profession at sea. This was the last image I will share of the Sail Amsterdam event, I will be off for a two week holiday to France!

Exellent photo , i like that you say some words about it .

Die bootshow is nog het hele weekend in Amsterdam niet , ik hoorde op het nieuws dat ze tot 3 miljoen bezoekers verwachten , bravo om daarin nog mooie fotos te nemen.

I have appreciated this whole series of shots. Pages behind in my commenting though. ;( I also appreciate the time you took to describe everything in your descriptions. This had to be one awesome event. Thanks so much for sharing these gorgeous, massive, designs of delightful passage. I'm quite impressed. ;) Have a great vacation.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We pillage plunder, we rifle and loot.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho!

Nothing beats a tall ship for grace and grandeur. How lucky you are to get a shot of her with a few sails on. Love your introduction too, it’s always nice to know what we are looking at.

This is the type of picture that you can put on your computer screen and then place your chin in you hands with elbows resting on the desk and just study the daylights out of this capture. There is so much action. And yes, you were fortunate for her to have some sails up. She is beautiful. Good work.
