Wow... Beautiful work... The sepia tones work wonders with this, as well as the back lighting of the tree itself... looking forword to this coming up in the voting boot... high marks.. *BOW*
Have to agree with Curtie here, I don't think this would have such an impact on normal colors. Propably it would look ok, but now it looks awesome. The sepia tone was a great choice.
High marks, indeed.
It's amazing what is "in the eye of the beholder" isn't it? Paul, obviously when you saw and 'felt' this tree it had its own impact on not only what you saw, but what you felt..it's a most wonderful photo...your using the sepia a lot lately has touched many...and that's what photography is all about....we see, we feel, we share......thank you so much my friend!!
This is complete majic Paul!! There are no such words express this image more than "Amazing" and "Enchanting". Its just a normal place and a normal thing you have converted in to some thing which can be rememberd for a long time. Well done as always.
Aaaaaah Paul....you have done it again!.....you are quite the artist for these pictures...the tree silhoette against the background sky is terrific.....it is resembling the 'Earth' at it's beginning of time!...(not that I was there, mind you!..I only feel that age!)....thank you and well done .......high marks from me for this one....
All I can say is that I agree with all of the previous posts Paul, a supreme piece of Art. The sepia tones lend it a haunting & brooding quality it might not otherwise possess. Excellant work, take your bows, you deserve them.

I’m very impressed, this piece is so marvelous, it has a strong and powerful meaning. about the precise tittle u used, the fell tree does reflect all the sins, the wars, the hate, the selfishness, the lies...all the undesired things we dont like about this world, and the sky represents the hope, the giving hand of our creator, as a reflection , to begin a new and wonderful life into our hearts....I just see all of this in your image....you have captured a great piece of nature which reflects a lot of things about us.....excellent work
Wow! You've just bumped yourself off my desktop! The forms and long shadows combined with the Ansel Adams coloring and your composition are breathtaking.
A highly evocative image ... and with your apt title ... some food for thought.
Beautiful work. Your choice of effect is profound. It literally transports the geography and mind to whereever you want it to be.
And oh, what a perfect composition. You really have to look much closer than your mind will let you, as each aspect works so well with one another. The line of clouds in the background, the back lighting of the tree as mentioned ... and, yes ... that beautiful tree. Contrasts in light and shadow ... incredible.
I should just put a link in my favourites straight to your gallery, as you are well represented. Thank you for sharing, once again.
Nice work! Like the others said, evocative. I look at it and imagine it in orange, with a blighted landscape about it, like a scene from some post-nuclear war movie... u know, a blasted remnant, representing humanity or some such.
There I go getting carried away again! Nice shot mate!
I like this Paul. If I was to write down all the things I like about it we would be here all night. Let's just say' marvelous and that I like the subject, lighting and the sepia tone. 10 and straight to my favorites.
Beautiful haunting image with great use of sepia toning. Wonderful placement of the tree, backlit by the sun filtered by clouds. Just a super shot. anne =D
Critiquing art of any kind is utterly subjective. When I vote on your images, I look at several things. First, my initial gut reaction. Then, is it straight (if it should be); is the color correct or if intentionally saturated or desaturated, was it done properly and does it enhance the image; composition - if you intended a bulls-eye, unless it's an outstanding image that is really served by centering the subject, it'll get dinged; is the horizon dead center - again, unless there's an obvious reason that makes it a better photo, no points; is the subject interesting and uncluttered; is the image sharp; is the depth of field right for this composition, is there a catchlight in the creature's eye; would I hang this on my wall; is it an image I'd be proud to display; is it artistic or just a snapshot; does it move me; is there a message conveyed; is it documentary in nature and if so, does it tell the story in such a way it makes me want more. When I critique a photo in your gallery, I'm only suggesting what my subjective nature prefers. No need to defend your position if you like your image the way it is. If you give me constructive criticism on my pieces, I guarantee you I will take them to heart. I love to improve! Bring it on Caedians! Love, anne =D
