'Vaux le Vicomte Castle' is situated on the North-East side of Paris.Well known for it's historic battles..These days, they do a lot of 'mock battles' and medevel re-enactments' "Let us all imagine one now!"........." 2 Mighty Knights, have to do 'battle' against each other, for the heart of a 'fair young maiden'! (she will know who she is!).......Let us call these 2 knights, Oh say!..'Sir Paul & Sir Robert'....One is as strong as an Ox,...the other Errr!..'looks like an Ox!!' As Battle commences, with swords ringing & clashing...and lances - lancing!!...Only one of these mighty Knights will be 'champion'..the other, lies beaten, bloody and subdued!...But!.. who is the one thats wins the favours of this lovely fair maiden AND LAY BESIDE HER IN A BED OF FLOWERS! Eh!.. I will let you decide!..... Let me know!, Wont you! Oh! also, I would appreciate a few comments to the Image too!.. thank you for taking part........Enjoy

I like the contrast between the the colorful flowers and the weathered building. The lighting give it a interesting mood. Very nice. The only thing that bugs me is the horizon is low on the left. My pictures are always low on the right. I used to blame the camera, but I've come to realize that it's me. Could say that I'm just a little bit off. hehe.....

Also, if you to make it a proper architectural shot, try adjusting the perspective in photo shop so that the sides of the building are parralel.

Roses?? I'm not sure which flowers those are, but I'm sure they're no roses... ;-)
Well, besides that, I like the symmetry of the composition, the subtle colours and the lighting make a really beautiful image!

I love the aged look of this building. Flower beds are always a good thing. The teaming of fresh flowers with vintage building.....brilliant!

In addition to Sir Paul and Sir Robert .. we can add Sir Real .. the lighting on this, in relation to the blue sky looks surreal ..

I must admit, try as I might, I have a hard time imagining what life was like .. the comings and goings that went on with castle estates such as this

Perhaps because America has such a shorter history span, I don't know

I bet our young maiden doesn't really care who wins this childish clash of the two oxen (either literally or as a methaphor). She is well-educated, ambitious and emancipated and she knows perfectly well there is nothing to be in a hurry for.... Unless for the bed of flowers, lol.
Stunning shot Paul!

P.s. about the surreal light here, I trust can you all see that I put this whole thing together in 3 different layers! Need I have said that??
You see, if the lady prefers a different bed, I can always change the flowers!
And if she wishes to lay under a starry sky...well...

I wondered why the carpet of dame's rockets would run through the front gates but anyway, it fits beautifully. I love the design of this castle, the way the right and left wings grow sucessively larger and push forward, and the lovely Palladian entrance. It's an imposing building. great job filling the foreground with color.

You are getting good at this Paul! The flowers are particularly appealing to this fair lady :)..I like how they are extended up the walk. The castle has great appeal with the aged .stones that it is built with. I presume that is the moat in the front? I also lie how you captured the angle of the walls of the moat against the straight angles of the castle. This has much appeal to it. The only thing I find a bit distracting is the people in the dead center of the image....that is just my opinion though :))..this is still downloaded to my favorites folder on my hard drive!
Also, thanks for the visit to ~is it spring?~ that is my hope bouquet....I am hoping that spring shows up here really soon! I doubt that you will miss it when it visits you!! I am looking forward to the warmer weather! I am glad that you enjoyed the softly muted colors as much as I did. Your continued support ,comments and critiques are deeply appreciated Paul :~)

Hi Paul, this indeed is unfinnished business at best, so the maiden in question will settle this once and for all! However, this is classified information and must not be 'leaked'! Oh that's right, you don't live in the US, so you may not understand that little refference! It is just a small political joke! Even so, The maiden doeth protest and without question prefers a bed of Roses, preferably 'pink' to that of flowers! If this can't be managed, she will ride her steed to the 'Dunstickin' forest where she will find rest and peace on the old grey bench pray tell, never to return again to this castle! While she loves the castle, she is drawn to the forest so must make a decision! Who knows 'Robin Hood' may even be there! That would be a plus!! In spite of this she will sacrifice at her own risk! There may be many! She may even invite Russel Crow ( a gladiator) to help clear this up!!!! The battle, thus far has been mighty bloody indeed, with the 'lancers' doing their 'lancing', and my how saddened she has become, as she doeth love both Sir Paul and Sir Robert! Oh my, what a dilema for this beautiful maiden, whatever will she do, I guess in conclusion the choice is the old grey bench in the 'Dunstikin' Forest! Seriously Paul I remember this castle and it is really extraordinary in everyway a castle can be, purely fascinating and very well done! Sincerely, Marilyn

Paul,
What a shot...the colors flow graduated till the bottom. The effect of lines of the fading roof top takes you from top to bottom of the image.
