I found one more Zion image I had not shared with you yet. It was a bit of problematic photo, the light being extremely harsh and the contrasts blown out completely. So I spent some time working on the RAW image, creating several tiffs that I then combined into this image. Enjoy!

Ah, but Paul, from the many excellent images you've posted, of geologic areas so large they stagger the imagination, you know that it is precisely when you have a little stronger contrast, created by areas of sun and shade from clouds, that we see and understand the true perspective of a place. Looking down this river valley with peaks on either side, the showed and lit spots accomplish just that. When I visit the badlands of western North Dakota it is much the same. I can stand on a high point, pick up a rock and tell myself I'm going to hit that tree with it, right there. Then when I throw the rock, it practically lands on my foot, my perception of the distance being thrown off so much by the sheer scale of the landscape. It's only when there are small clouds scudding by above, casting shadows, creating contrast, that I see the land the way it really is. (Well, that and realizing those minute dark points on the distant peaks are full-size trees!) You might consider this one problematic but it's going into my favorites file.

As this image opened in full screen I was awe struck! You have created a master piece here. The light, colours and DOF perfect. Infact there is almost a 3D effect the more you look at it. This is a keeper for certain, so into my fav's. Thank you for sharing.

I like this one a lot as well as all your American tour photo's Paul. It would have been tempting to color the water on this one.
