The scenery Kodachrome Basin State Park is dominated by 67 monolithic stone spires called sedimentary pipes. They accentuate multi-hued sandstone layers revealing 180 million years of geologic time. The color and beauty found here prompted a 1948 National Geographic Society expedition to name the area Kodachrome after the popular color film.

I like the way your images always seem so natural in color, like it should look if I were actually standing there. KEEP-PAH!

I see a 2-lane highway running through the middle here, indicating that you most likely drove on that road. Is this a hiking trail you're on or were you able to just wander and shoot as you pleased. I swear, Paul, these photos you've been submitting of the arches area is pushing me closer and closer to going there myself. The angles you use and the clarity of your photos is like actually being there, but, of course, you're not able to include smells, sounds, temperatures, breezes, and so one, in your photos to give us the full experience. But your shots come close to that. That's why you keep seeing me drop them in my favorites file, as I did with this one. It's quite gratifying when your photography can affect someone else to this extent. I know because I just visited, the last two days, with a fellow Caedesian, all the way from the east coast who was just here. My wife and I visited with him and his delightful wife, touring them around my area in our Jeep, and he says it was my photos that brought him here. Well, I'm being drawn to Utah by yours.
