Thought I would add one to the "Butterflies" gallery. I have never seen one with coloring like this before. It is a Pipevine Swallowtail.
Taken on 8/1/04 at Dade Battlefield Memorial Park in Bushnell, Fla.
Very nice. I think I'm one of the only ones that doesn't always love butterflies. They are still bugs to me most often. This one tilts the scales a bit in their favor. ;)
Beautiful capture of this flutterby Tom. I am glad that you have ID'd your friend! The coloring is amazing & the contrast with the black & green adds additional beauty. I like that you photographed from the 'swallowtail' area to give us a better view of the gorgeous color! Excellent calrity also! Job well done! Is this native? Thank you :)
It's so clear, you can see every detail perfectly, and such a beautiful butterfly too. I personally like how the background's out of focus so it draws more attention to the butterfly and gives it depth. Keep up the good work.
These butterflies fly very low and fast and are constantly moving, so they are difficult to photograph. (I know; I've tried!) One more reason that this is an exceptional image, in addition to the comments above.
