This photo is remarkable, it is first of all unusual, you were lucky he was sleeping, but your capture is tremendous. Love the angle, and the textures and colors come through perfectly.
I'm guessing this was taken at the Henry Doorly, since this Apalone ferox is a Florida soft shell, one of three species in the U.S. He's probably this relaxed because he knows his habitat is completely safe, just like the birds that I encountered in the zoo's Lied Jungle; totally unafraid of anything, humans included.
