Looking up into a startling photosynthesis reflected through afternoon light and vivid leaves, I have no doubt that while a dog may be man's best friend, it is the trees that help us to breathe, and remind me of grace.

Paul, thanks for this fine post.
Referring to your narrative: Mother Earth offers us a lot of beauty and value, regardless of whether it's human, animal or vegetable.
As far as possible, humanity should strive for peaceful coexistence with what surrounds us. For plant life and human life this is somewhat easier than certain species of animal life, because in the latter category there are life-threatening species. I am not talking about animals of the wild, but insects such as malaria mosquitoes, killer bees, parasites and the like.
However, I am a realist and I know that a proper and peaceful coexistence is an utopia. The news broadcasts on TV and the newspaper articles constantly remind me of this, but I'm still striving to help to achieve such an utopia.
