Paul, Margulis expressed doubts about the inorganic origin of gases in the atmosphere, because she examined many bacteria that emitted gases. She proposed that mainly bacteria contribute to homeostasis. Another point of view of her was the idea that the Earth should not be viewed as an organism, but as a system. She summarized this in the statement: "No organism eats its own waste."
Good visualization of the theme that Earth should be viewed as a system.
