This photo was taken in India during a visit more than 8 years ago - even before I was on Caedes. We stopped the car and I took a couple of shots. I found out that they were taking the elephant for a "blessing ceremony" at a new construction. Jumbo loves the ride because he is fed goodies constantly on the way. "Much better than walking in this heat" says Jumbo.

My entry for the contest.

Had another image in mind when I saw only your title Raj, but I like this 'surprising' one very much. The way 'Jumbo' was treated made me smile as well.

Very good one my friend!

Regards, Cornelius.

I think you have a winner here Raj! It must be an interesting "blessing" ceremony. Fantastico!

Since all the friends have said almost all that came to my mind at first, I can focus on some less evident aspect. For instance the man's gesture towards Jumbo looks tender to me... which I find so moving and so typical of Indian culture and mentality - I have met many Indians, mostly seamen and ex-seamen, and always admired and cherished their profound thinking and complex yet most humane attitude in every case. I believe that the elephant has been treated better than well and taken good care of during this trip.
Unique entry, Raj dear!

A interesting subject that's only really common to India hey Raj. You'd have thought Jumbo would have tipped the truck!

Definitely a good entry into the Street Photography Contest, there's only 2 days left, & we still need more entrants.
