A mechanics nightmare and engineers pride. Any guesses? Hint #1: Automotive. Hint #2: German Engineering. Hint #3: The engine proper of this 12 cylinder power plant has been largely editted out. (the belt/sprockets were the objects of photographic interest), As FotoBob says well, it's a challenge to highly reflective objects. Find the shot, click.

Since the title of this image is Car Buffs I must be totlaly wrong My first impression was that it was the engine block for a motorcycle. Reguardless of what it is this is a terrific image.Stainless steel chrome, silver and gold are very difficult to photograph. All of these materials will produce a dark image as their reflective properties are very slim. In order to produce an image with some "life" gobos must be used to add highlights to the product. This is obviously a studio set up image that has been excuted extremley well. Rob. if you created tihs image you are an expert in the high reflective metal group. Very well done. A 10 for sure.

Hehe, this is very cool. Nice work, keep it up! To me, it looks like the eye lense thing that the eye doctors have you look in to check your vision XD But I know I'm wrong.

I'm really into goth rock and new wave. My favorite band is The Birthday Massacre. The guy in my avatar is, in fact, a guy. His name is Mana from the band Malice Mizer.

::fotobob ...ok, here's a hint. Car buff was a good one already. German engineering is a second. The shot, by the way, is unretouched but for editing out the less interesting grey engine block. It was not shot in a studio, rather an opportunity shot at a car show. Great chance with lots of overhead lighting.

Thank you for your compliment. I'm far from an expert just a schlepper with a itchy digit and a camera on standby.

Well its obviously the belt driven accessories but I can't place a name on a manufacturer. The way the belt is routed more horizontal than vertical makes me think its a horizontally opposed engine like Porsche uses.

Bingo. Very good! Some serious HP out of a relatively small mill.

See here for verification.

Thats true! But it needs two turbos to get that power and gets very bad gas mileage and it polutes like crazy, but still a great engine.

Oh and Iforgot to tell you this but that is a good picture! lol
