This bull Elk doesn't look too uncomfortable with you shooting his mug shot! I really like the way the backgorund is...the dark green of the cedar trees adds a softness to the rack he has, yet the harsh winter grasses that are on the ground provide a neat duality in textures. I like Elk and think that this is a really cool shot. I am putting it on my dekstop and downloading it to my favorites folder on my harddrive. Thanks Rob...good detail and colors too :~)
Oh isnt he just royal looking?! Elk are faboulous to view...and I'm so glad you took a good "shot" at this guy! His horns are gorgeous..He must still be pretty young. AT first I thought it was a Reindeer..we have a lot of those in ORegon. Thanx for a great photo Rob...verena
How majestic! I'd love to have lovely creatures like this in the wild in my area! So nice that you are shooting with a camera...not a gun! Was he aware of you? Beautiful picture!
I agree with Terri...nice you are shooting with a camera, Rob... ....elk...??..this is definately not the European Elk, that I know...it looks like a deer (a stag) to me...maybe a Dalai Deer (wink !)
They're sending them to the Smokies for repopulation and I've got a holding area not too far from me where they're being climatized and watched for health concerns. I've got some shots but with twelve foot high chain link running around them. This is what I can't wait to see, majestic and free.
