A turnstone cooling off. There's nothing to inspire sheer joy of life and exuberance than to watch a bird take a bath.

You are absolutely correct about exuberance in bathing birds. There is an injured black bird hiding out in my front yard lilac bushes, so despite the reputation of this species, I put out a pan with an inch of water in it so he can bathe and drink, a dish of bird seed mix, and a chopped up strawberry in another, all behind and a little under the edge of the bush. I am hoping he takes advantage of these goodies while he heals. Your delightful photo brought that up in my head, along with the family of robins nesting on our bedroom windowsill. I put a tray of water out for them as well so mama did not have far to go. The whole family and uncle Bob are all using it. Thanks for sharing this one with us, Paul.

Good action shot, Wayne! The stop motion on the water is great and just the right moment.

Paul? Did I really call you Paul in my comment above? It must be the heat. Or being 67 then. Or both. Sheesh!
