Rainbows are tough "models" (like fireworks) to get great photos of and here you went and got TWO of them! I also like that the shot is clear enough to even see all the lights from so far away.
Thank you all - I was very fortunate that the rainbow hung around long enough for me to cross a road and get down onto the beach to compose the shot, while my wife was left explaining to a barmaid that I was "outside in the pouring rain taking photographs". This was the best of twenty-odd shots before the rain drove me in to the bar :-)
Thanks, Klas - this was way above the average rainbow! It was just before sunset, so it was a high arch, and the whole semi-circle of it was visible. The light just got weirder as the rain got heavier - one of those moments when you run off as many shots as you can 'cos you don't get many opportunities that good, especially with that kind of BG!
"What other reason could there be to get up in the morning except to set ourselves free."
If my comment on your work ever seems to criticise, it does not. It is always so that we may learn together.
what a breathtaking image! above the average? noooo.. perfect! i had not seen a rainbow for a while.. it snowed the last month.. and the spring came so soon.. the sun is shining and that cheers me up :)
i wonder.. how do you manage being in the right place at the right time?! always! i bet this is one of photographing mysteries.. photographers are always ready for a life full of surprises, don't you agree? admit it, you had a sixth sense about these rainbows! :)))
one thing that also looks beautiful in this image is the water.. it looks so peaceful far away, but again restless on the beach..
what can i say, an astonishing image.. high marks from me :)
Oh my..Breathtaking! What a terrific picture. I absolutely love this shot. Great capture on the rainbow and the color in this picture is awesom. Nicely done.
