"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts." Bertrand Russell
Thanks all for the kind comments. I might have stopped down to try to increase the depth of focus, Matthew, but she wasn't prepared to wait for me, and flew off after I'd taken a couple of quick auto-everything shots. The other one shows the wingtips in great detail but the rest of her is blurred. So it goes....
It was sweet of her to land where the background wouldn't clash with her wardrobe :)...true woman......amazing macro Simon. The detail is incredible. To be able to see the tiny hairs on her legs has me in awe. Her colors are gorgeous too. Glad you were able to get off a shot & thank you for sharing it with us. 10/10 & in my fav;s on my HD.
Thank you all - I'm glad you liked it. The detail is what gets me too, Mimi - I hadn't realised how astonishing the macro capability of a digital camera could be, compared with a 35mm SLR which needs to be at least a metre from its subject. It's a cliche, but I do look at the world in a different way now....
"What other reason could there be to get up in the morning except to set ourselves free."
If my comment on your work ever seems to criticise, it does not. It is always so that we may learn together.
That is a beautiful shot Si. The color of insects can be really startling, I think in terms of color insects beat just about every other living thing. This makes me eagerly look forward to purchasing my own new toy...
Hello Simon....This is a brilliant picture...When photographing insects, control of depth-of-field is critical as the zone of acceptable sharpness is very often just a few centimetres and this image proves you got everything spot on...Well done....All the best...Mick.
