The mill at Sturminster Newton in Dorset dates back to the seventeenth century. It's still working, although these days as a tourist attraction rather than a vital element of the community. 11th May '05.
This is a really pleasant image Si. Just perfect for the jigsaw market methinks. It beats the heck out of me why the c-index is so low. Perhaps it needs more space to the left of the mill. It’s even got colour and clouds in the sky which seems unusual to see this type of image.
Wow Simon, this looks like a painting! I love it...the colors are great, the sky & the clouds look too perfect & there is so much texture on the weathered mill. The trees are begining to bud out. What a perfect place to sit & meditate! Thanks :))
Love that old brick. Amazing how construction back then survives until today and stuff we build today won't be around as long as this mill has. I like the perspective from which you took this photo. What would a mill be without water and what would a would water be without a little grass around. This mill is ancient and your camera captured those ancient details quite well.
