At Mallard's Pike lake, in the Forest of Dean, there's a carving of a little mermaid on the back of a large (man-sized) frog. Who knows what she thinks of, as she clings there while lichen spreads across her cracked and weathered wood....

I really like this, Simon. I see the emotional comfort and feeling of being safe, in her face and body posture.
Beautiful art and a work well done.

Great capture Simon. Of course I'm a sucker for B&W photography, I really do like this detail shot of the scuplture, and looks forward to seeing it in its entirety.

Hey Simon. Pretty neat. The black and white goes great with this pic. The title goes good with the pic. She does look like a strange little girl.

Wow Simon

That is pretty cool. You did a great job of capturing this image. I just think it is so cool that we can see such wonderful things through someone else's camera and view point.

Thanks for sharing.

i think the true question isnt why she's posing this way, but where you found it. i doubt many people notice this whereever you did find it. its like she's hiding....
very nice...

This is really great. What a nice a capture. The fact that the staue is wood makes it more interesting. It's odd that such a detailed and large statue would not be made of stone or iron. The cracking of the wood gives the statue a very entrancing appeal, the cracks make it look like like the sands of time are slowly stripping her away. I can't see the frog, but she looks like she needs a shoulder/back to lean on (she looks a little melancholy). Thanx!!

Really love this! Is there more to see of the mermaid? Excellent shot.
