Just relaxing and reflecting on the old bridge that used to cross to the mill.

Your composition is exemplary as usual, Carol. You could have put your Lens Effects filter to good use here, with the Graduated Neutral Density filter, and gained more impact and tonal balance.

Hi, Carol...

First of all, I'd listen to Doug. I don't know what he's talking about with the "lens effect filter" and the "graduated neutral density filter", but the man knows his stuff; so I agree with everything he said even though I haven't a clue what it means. Other than that, I think it's a fine posting with good colors and textures and interesting subject matter. First and foremost have those filters ready next time.

I like the shot. Personally I would have showed up with my weed eater and taken down the riparian vegetation that's in the foreground or borrowed my neighbor's 10' stilts to shoot over the top of them.

An interesting shot, Carol. Don't know what snapshooter means by 'lens effect' filter, but if you use a point and shoot camera, I expect you could put an ND filter in front of the lens with your free hand as you shoot the view. With the light side of the filter on the top, the lower portion, the water, would have been darker. Ususally it is used on skies.

There is the old argument of whether or not it is proper to remove any obstacles from view when framing an image. I am one of those who will remove something (something innocuous) if I feel it hinders my line of sight, but in your image, the boaters are seen without any interference from the foreground grass. The remainder of the bridge is an interesting part of this image too.

Carol - Very well composed, this scene captured the enjoyment of the canoeists as they meander down the river. Thad

Having that boat and boaters in this really made it special. Beautiful and perfect shot Carol!

I like the composition of this photo, Carol. Personally I think the foreground growth adds to the scene, adding some depth. Good colours and textures in the photo. You might want to head downstream and tell that fool to don a cap or head covering of some sort to save himself from getting a sunburn. Or at least toss him some sunscreen. Good work.
