A friend got in a boat and threw my wallpapers into the sea, while I waited near the seabed with my trusty Canon, and snapped them as they tumbled past.

Oh, all right. :-) Photoshop CS5. I had a fight on my hands with those big bubbles, but found a tutorial at eHow... it was surprisingly quick and effective, though I had to layer the bubbles (which were almost invisible against the background) and change their colours.

There are 129 wallpapers featured, all of them posted to my gallery here on Caedes. I deleted two a while ago but still included them (Misty Veil and Test Tubers). (Misty Veil is the pastel pink and green fractal drifting below the planet scene).

My rose for Verena is in the top left corner with the brightest bubbles.

I learned a few things from this project... not least that I can still be surprised by my own priorities (which ones sank and which ones swam). My bear is the biggest, swimmiest one here, but then I have to live with him. When I got his wallpaper out and started reducing it down, he fixed me with a glittering eye, as though to say "just you dare!"

It was a bit of a 'labour of love'... I hope you enjoy.

Very nice work, Tootles.

Love the creativity displayed here.

Compositionally, great flow and placement throughout and within frame of your individual works.

Take a bow.. and a curtain call or two. :o)

And but of course, thank you for sharing this special piece with us. :o)

I liked the first story with you on the seabed best. I saw you in one of those cool deep-sea diving suits: the ones with the big brass helmets. I must say that you looked quite fearless and very 'Captain Nemo' which was just as well considering the circling swarm of giant mutant lobsters. Anyway. I likes this, I likes this, I likes this a lot. Really clever work.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I... I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference.

Dear Tootles. You asked me "Do lobsters bubble?" Yes, in fact giant mutant lobsters have been well documented employing what is scientifically refered to as 'The Bubble Effect'. Although there is some debate as to whether it is a warning mechanism or simply aggressive behaviour, it is universally agreed that the gaseous qualities of these loud and effervescent lobsterish communications are unpleasant. It seems you have had a very close call my dear Tootles, and I only hope that you will take this into consideration when next you take photos beneath the sea. Mutant Lobster Bubbles are no joking matter! I am more than happy to loan you my CD by the reknowned marine biologist Helmut von Bonkersnokin, which teaches you, step by simple step, the basics of mutant lobster claw-click language. This may prove useful to you should you face them again and need to express that your intentions are peaceful. I hope this information has been useful. :) Ricky.

Thanks Ricky! I didn't notice those creatures till you pointed them out, but I'll be more on my guard the next time. In fact I'll use one of those deep sea diving bubbles, and maybe I can rig up my camera on the front of it. The lobsters won't be able to get me in that -- I'll be safe. Heh heh.

What a cool patchwork of images! I had to blow it up and study it for quite some time to really appreciate all of what it holds! You did just a magnificent job here!! A fave for sure!

Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling.

I'm married to a quilter and so naturally I would see this as a quilt, but one of the most fantastic "memory" quilts ever. I like how you've separated many elements into segments, just as a "crazy" quilt would do, but also have a theme running throughout with overlapping imagery in all those bubbles... the large ones as well as the little ones that border each segment. Truly a work of art. I placed it in my favorites so I can show it to my wife when I get home. Thank you for all the time, talent, and effort you put in on this and for sharing it with us.
