This little guy was dancing around and bathing with his friends in the shallow surf. They also appeared to be eating something from the sand. Does anyone know more about what he would be eating? Photo taken in Daytona Beach, FL.

Excellent timing. I love the simple water and sand background. Very nice light angle and shadow add depth to this scene.

WE have sandpipers here in abundance..and what they eat is sand shrimp, they are tiny tiny little shrimp...they bite us humans if we sit in the surf and sand long enough..you were VERY fotunate to get this photo! They are such FAST little birdies..you know their knees are hinged the opposite way then all the other birds..and thats why they can run with the tide so fast. Its at the edge of the waves where the shrimp are...this is a LOVELY photo..I've saved it to my Favorites Gallery and onto my desktop..its really special...the way the water is and the way the sandpipers is leaning into it plus we see his shadow. I have to say this is one of my MOST favorite photos of all time, I've tried and tried to get a close of up one, but never could..and I've been here over 20 years! Thank you for posting something so unique and beautiful! And by the way I really love how the ripples in the water show up so well...You could get famous for this photo!! wow.

I love the sparkly water, the lighting, and the bird. Basically what Verena said sums it up! Lovely shot, great job, keep it up!

Weird how the sand can vary so much between Daytona Beach and a little South of there at Cocoa Beach. Good capture, Josh.

Very nice capture. I am sure these little guys nibble on shrimp or small creatures in the sand that appear after the water washes up. Great image here. Good job!
