The cross is reminiscent of the World Trade Center cross that also stood in the rubble of destruction and waste. I like the tones and variety of textures of this image and, apart from the obvious decay, I actually find it artistic in an odd way...

This reminds me of the 'after the tornado' shots from this area of the US, William. A great find and capture - there is so much to view here and so many textures. I spent a lot of time in Detroit when I was young and it is really sad to see what is happening there. I listened to one news story on the internet where the fire chief was saying that something like 80% of all fires were set on purpose in Detroit because neighborhood residents just couldn't live with scenes like this one anymore. I hope that Your city can pull itself up and become productive and beautiful soon.
