Taken in the Great Sand Dunes National Park, CO. Taken back in August 2004 when it was still a national monument. Its amazing to see such a beautiful flower growing in the midst of all that sand! Please do not misuse my images :)
This is very original. The only think I would wish though..is the flower..sadly my icons would cover it :-\ But i do really enjoy this, it's very different. High marks :o)
There's an emptiness inside her and she'd do anything to fill it in. Though it's red blood bleeding from her now, it's more like cold blue ice in her heart. She feels like kicking out all the windows and setting fire to this life. She could change everything about her using colors bold and bright, but all the colors mix together...to grey. ~*DaveMatthewsBand*~
Oh, Thank You! Your website is a must-see, and this is one of my favorites from there. The tenacity of that flower to grow with strength and health in such barren conditions is a natural miracle. There waiting for you and your camera.
Michael, i had to give it only a ten since thats the highest, nice work! I would have liked the whole shadow of the flower to be in the picture but that's just me. Your site is great as well man!
This is photography at its best. You have picked out the solitary flower just wonderfully and also really got the texture of the sand there too. Must be hard to live in those conditions and i could even give you a lecture why its there cos i study this kind of thing at university but i will be content with telling you its an excellent shot 10/10
But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling, like dew, upon a thought produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions think and smile.
Art is everywhere, except it has to pass through a creative mind.
wow! amazing shot! love how delicate the flower is in an otherwise harsh environment. great focus, almost making it surreal. thank you for sharing this.
can such beauty really grow like this? just had to say one more WOW. thanks again, love this pic, keep coming back to it. art is in the eye of the beholder, and to me this one says strength...think it should be my new desktop for those stressful wanna cry days. just WOW.
The impact of this image is truly impressive. What a great photograph - exceptional colors, great composition and all the texture does more than add to the complete package. What a perfect shot.
I like everything about this. The flower leads up to the green diagonal, which is echoed by the diagonals at the sand / sky border and even the textures in the sand itself. Lovely lighting and the wedge of blue sky is a great balance to the color of the sand.
I'm probably going to be able to spend 3-4 days at Great Sand Dunes in April. Any suggestions about where to look for photos?
i definitely feel exactly what that flower feels to be surrounded by a sea of unordinary sand, only to be lost and forgotten when the sandstorm hits. added to my favs. i can totally relate to this... i'm sure that flower can't wait to feel a single drop of rain (love).
