The Grizzly Giant is one of the largest trees in the Mariposa Grove and, at an estimated age of 2,700 years, one of the oldest living Sequoias. As you wanter around its base, look up. That huge limb on the south side is almost seven feet (2 meters) in diameter, and that mere branch is larger than the trunk of any non-Sequoia in the grove!

These are such majestic trees, I remember them well from when I lived out on west coast, California. This is a beautiful capture.

these trees are so huge it's hard to appreciate their size in a photo Vanda. This is one instance where a person, car, etc. at its' base would demonstrate just how big they truly are. ...Ed

I have never seen one but would love to Vanda. They are really majestic. Again a good perspective. I will be interested to see what you enter in the contest.

Great shot of this big one. I would love to hear the stories it could tell if only it could. That is a long time to have been around here.

A very different place it must have been 2700 years ago. I hope that we never lose these awesome trees completely to egocentric thinking.

The lighting really detracts from this photo in my opinion. The colours seem washed out. I like the textures in the tree and can just imagine the tales this old beauty could tell.
