In Glacier NP, The Garden Wall is an arête or rock spine that separates the Many Glacier region of the park from Lake McDonald valley. It is still awesome but quite a different landscape in the Fall. I have seen it in August when the area was heavily covered in dozens of species of flowering plants and shrubs.

Gorgeous shot, Vanda. I love the layers in the wall. What a beautiful area that is.

Taken, no doubt, from the boardwalk west of Logan Pass. For those who have never been to Glacier, this half-mile boardwalk was built to protect this area from human footfall, keeping the tundra-like growth and all those wildflowers safe. This is much the way we saw it in late August/early September of 2010. A place full of color and life, so massive its scale is hard to get a handle on. The red stone in the corner is at a turn in the boardwalk, about 3/10ths mile from the Logan Pass Visitor Center. From this point we are looking to the northeast to that odd square "bump" on the horizon above and to the left of center. That peak is called Bishops Cap and is just under 2-1/4 miles away. Looks closer, doesn't it. This spot west of Logan is a large, downward-sweeping bowl of rock, layer after layer revealed with exposed rock and fringes of growth. A stark but beautiful place you captured very much as the visitor sees it in person. Layers? Hmmm. It would make a good current contest entry but your Inspirational Teton Range 1 is still a breath-stopper and the one to use.
