Those long-billed caps aren't cheap. My son has several photos from his honeymoon out there, back in August of this year, that shows several hats in spots like this. I have to wonder if the park service uses something like a fishing pole and line, with a hook on the line, to get these foreign objects out of there. I would assume so since the alternative is leaving them to nature's whims but, if that was the case, you would have seen very old and cruddy objects on the ponds.

This is why I tie my hat on my pointy head. :) I suppose losing one's hat is better than the alternative of losing one's head and leaving it behind as a souvenir. An interesting capture Vanda. Nice colours and textures in the photo.
