(Main) Photography->Sunset/Rise
The wetlands of Fern Ridge, Oregon just outside Eugene. Original shot taken in May. Manipulated using Photomatrix software. This shot is essentially a blend of several images using different exposures. In the original image, I had to choose between blown out highlights or lost detail shadows to get a decent exposure - as is the case with most sunsets or contrasty scenes. Photomatrix (or any HDR and tone mapping software) essentially allows you to produce a much broader tonal range. This is my second crack at using it.

A nearly perfect picture in every way. You've given me the incentive to try the free version of Photomatix. The Pro version seems awfully expensive. I have a feeling that you just shot a great photo to begin with.

You need to be whipped for loading up my hardrive. This is another keeper. I'm going to have to investigate that software. Can you tell me a little bit about it in a PM when you get time.
