We went to Maui in May, this is a "Jacarunda" tree(not sure of the spelling), they were all in full bloom, the sunlight is just peeking out of an overcast sky. Sorry I have been busy of late and have not visited the site in a while. Hope you all enjoy this as much as I did.

I've heard of these trees (don't know how to spell it either), and it is a real treat to see not only one in full bloom but a several! The sky and the road are natural palette controllers, making for a nice effect.

Here in South Africa we have lots of these trees, especially in Pretoria. Streets are lined with these Jakarandas, as we know them. Lovely post, thanks for sharing. Hannie

~ Gorgeous shot! We have beautiful Jacaranda trees in Florida USA too, and probably other southern states as well. I have one I grew from a seed about 10 yrs ago and it's finally started to bloom the last few years. On older trees such as the one in your shot...when the blossoms fall it looks like lavender snow has blanketed the ground!
