Useful in its day and could probably still be used if you wanted to really work hard. But with all the machinery of today I guess it has seen better days. My dad may have used one for he was born in 1912 and horses and mules were the thing in his day.

This has "contest image" written all over it. I meant that figuratively, Frank. If it really had "contest image" written all over it, the posting would kind of stink. However, as it is, I think you did a splendid job of creating an antique looking shot with your post photo processing. The sepia tone works very well, and the vignetting is a great touch.
You know me...I speak my mind or whatever is left of my mind. I would have cloned out that sliver of the ladder on the right as it detracts from the subject. Additionally the crop on the left is awfully tight for my discriminating tastes.

The sepia works perfect for this one, and fits the contest to a T!

Yes it's seen better days however I'll bet with a little TLC it could work again and of course some horse power .... the original horse power .
