Got my creative thinking flowing, Frank.. with your artistic offering here.
And with respect to it being a possible submission to the currentcontest.
First..
Subject matter, colour palette and choice of texture work well together. Conveys an appropriate emotive response.. to me, that of nostalgia.
And on an interpretative level.. underscores the fading beauty of the rose/fleeting nature of beauty itself (or, perhaps that of memories.)
Not static.. always changing.
Suggestion.
Move the rose off center, to the right.
Let the shadow take the 'main' stage. Rather than truncating at the left-hand border.
I do note the vignetting you've used.. which, tells me that you gave some aforethought to your composition and piece overall. Just sharing/typing out loud some thoughts.
Nice work.
I am interested to see which of your recent posts/uploads ends up as your final choice and submission.

Without any doubts, a good one Frank, but think you can provide us with an image that meets better the contest topic. To me your previous post would be more suitable. But that's up to you of course my friend.

I like the creative thought given to this one, I do think Les made a very good suggestion. Of the two I do prefer the other one for the contest, but that is just my thought. tigs=^..^=
Right into my favs, this is really beautiful and studying them both I think I'd go with the other one, has a lot of shadows to draw you in. I might have cropped a little off the right so that the rose isn't in the centre as Les suggested. They are bot Beautiful
