A number of years ago, more than to which I will admit, I observed an art class in which students were drawing faces from a portrait photo. When several of them were having difficulty with the process, the teacher turned the portrait upside down and asked the students what shapes they saw. Then, she had them draw the shapes, turn their drawing around and then they were able to complete the process somewhat successfully. It was an observed lesson I never forgot. Like music is a form of math and physics, art has an element of geometry.
