It's a Mallard but a hybrid.Lots of the ducks down shibdon pond interbreed..Even the Mandarin duck is chasing after a female mallard..The ducks are so well fed they never leave winter or summer.. There's even a white mallard there.Don't know who flew in for that one..Rumour has it the father left for Aylesbury..

He certainly looks plump. Great detail on the plumage and a knowing look in his eye.

He looks well fed too Richie. Great colours. The white (albino) one was probably the result of continuous Aylesbury interbreeding!

For an inbreed duck..he's got a beautiful mixture of colors on this feathers.

It must be the water Count B. Have you had a drink from it yet I saw a sign by the water that said: "Not Responsible In Case of Accidents." A nice shot of the cross breed by the way.

I like this one Richie only I might have called him a mut. Your word is probrably more politicly correct though. Would not want to hurt the duck populations feelings.
