Below the town of Haltwhistle is the spectacular thirteen-arch viaduct of the former Alston Branch of the Newcastle and Carlisle railway 1852.Now a footpath..
I see you took this with the D90, Count B. Many of the railways have been turned to footpaths in my part of the world too. I think that is a shame to do away with them.
You have many pleasing objects for the eyes to rest on in this post. You really understand how to compose a shot.
Glad it's at least a foot bridge, instead of being left to rot away. Far to bad that so many railways are not around any more, but thankfully some are at least footpaths. The remains of one here I bike on almost every day. Before I get too carried away ... the photo is wonderful Richie!
The accursed Beeching again - may he rot in hell! But at least we've now got some lovely walks to remind us of the glorious past. A superb capture here, Richie.
* Owing to the deterioration in my hands, I find that I cannot comment as much as I should..But please know...I do look at all your posts!..and will leave my 'moniker' >OB< when I do so!...Thank you all *
