This is an old slipway on the Ouseburn,It was used to load small boats with coal,The coal was then taken from here,To the Tyne and loaded onto bigger vessels known as colliers that tranported the coal to the ever expanding London,A tunnel. The Victoria Tunnel was built to transport coal from Spital Tongues Colliery to staithes on the Tyne for loading into ships. The tunnel was two miles long and took three years to build. This whole area has now been renovated using the original materials and is now a heritage site,With pubs restaurants and apartments that blend with the old buildings..More to follow..A small adjustment,Thanks to my mate eagleye Sandi ;).R.

R. I'm glad you made that simple adjustment, this is very well captured, and I like how the grass is growing up through the bricks. Good composition, and as usual your postwork is done so well. Look forward the rest this series. Tigs♥ =^..^=

Richie - Captured well, the grasses overgrowing areas portray a place whose golden days may have passed. From the narrative, it is good that this historic site is being gentrified for reuse, while preserving the character of its origins. Thad

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . .
