Cornelius and Raj... The Western Belle.. This 69ft vessel, built in Great Yarmouth, was first launched in November 1935. She first entered service in 1936 and spent almost 50 years carrying passengers in Devon and Cornwall. Throughout the Second World War, she ran enhanced services to Devonport for workers in the Royal Dockyard. The boat also made evacuation runs during The Blitz.. Now she plies her trade on Ullswater,In the English Lakes..I had a job getting it in..One step back and I would have been in the Briney.

She is a beauty Richie. The first thing that strikes me as a seaman is that she is rather narrow for her length. It will give her more speed but she will roll a lot with the slightest swell. Very nice shot of the "old lady". Thanks for sharing it with two old sea dogs :)

Still beautiful after all these years. That is a wonderful perspective. Maybe it is good that you were restricted in your movement because this is perfect. I love the depth, detail and color. Beautifully done, Richie. Great HDR technique too.

Richie, refering to Raj's comment above like to say that this slim old lady is still in a good shape and is a beauty indeed. If she could tell her life story, I think that anyone who would listen, was sitting on the edge of the chair. Her slim shape makes it easy to get in the briney (briny, slightly salt or brackish water?), but 'almost' means at the same time that you didn't have to swim, lol.

Very fine post. Thanks for dedicating this one to two friends wich still have sea water in their veins. Well done.

Regards, Cornelius.

I just don't understand how you produce a photograph like this. I'd sure like to see how it looked right out of the camera. I love it.

I'm not sure, Richie, what you did in post photo work on this shot, but it really works well. Between those beautiful colors and the glorious background, you've left us with a romanticized version of the reality of this ship. Beautifully focused, excellent details...just a terrific shot.

Raj and Cornelius and me, me !!!! LOL
I have half and half blood and sea water in my veins - having witnessed their design, construction, participated in so many sea trials [dozens and dozens ...]- I am a great boat lover - of course I should say: ship lover LOL
And I know that she cannot be that slim - particularly at her age - some trick, wasn't it ? LOL
Yours SAM
